Simon Harmer (33) is one of the world’s best finger spinners. With over 800 wickets in first-class cricket, ‘Harmy’ has developed a formidable reputation of winning matches from any position, with ball in hand.
Born and bred in Pretoria, he went to PBHS, and has enjoyed a stellar career in South African domestic cricket. His performances for the Warriors saw him picked for the Proteas, before a hugely successful stint in county cricket. He is a folk hero at Essex, where he has played a key role in winning two Championships in three seasons.
Now back in the international fold, ‘Harmy’ also played a starring role in his first season at the Titans. He finished as leading wicket-taker in four-day cricket, with his scalps helping the Sky Blues win the domestic red-ball title on a thrilling final day of the campaign. He has also won his place back in the Proteas Test squad.
